Wedding Suppliers: Ceremony: Ballina Beach Reception: Beef and Beach, Lennox Head Hair: Jazmin Williams Make-up: Maddy Ison Flowers: Flowers in Paradise Cake: Cute Sweet Things Limousine: Long Black Limo Drive only an hour down from the Gold Coast and you arrive at some of the most beautiful locations for weddings. It was here, on the beautiful Ballina Beach that Stacey and Jay chose to exchange their vows. Nestled away in the delightful Ballina, Stacey was finishing hair and make-up and preparing to get into her dress at her family home surrounded by her family and friends, before taking a short Limo drive to meet Jay. All of Stacey and Jay's guests had gathered on the Ballina Beach. The Northern Rivers area is a truly magnificent area and the weather certainly disappoint offering a gloriously sunny day with a gently sea breeze. It provided a beautiful backdrop for them to exchange their wedding vows. Following the ceremony we visited the Ballina skate park and spit to take a few wedding portrait photos before making our way to the Lennox Head Beef and Beach restaurant for a fun, relaxed wedding reception. I always loving looking at the special added touches that Bride's and grooms add to their reception. Stacey and Jay included a gorgeous wishing well, along with some delightful bride and groom bomboniere and a heart cut out for guests to sign with their personal message. Lennox Head Beef and Beach served delightfully appetizing canapes throughout the reception and the wedding cake made by cute sweet things was the center piece of attention. Overall it was a relaxed, fun filled afternoon celebrating true love! If you have found your one and only and you need a wedding photographer message to check if your date is free! What is an Engagement Session? An engagement session is essentially a fun and relaxed portrait session of you and your spouse. While the aim is mainly to get you feeling comfortable in front of the camera some clients opt for this session to fulfill a specific purpose including save the date cards or for display at your wedding reception. More often than not its a wonderful opportunity to capture professional photographs of you two together at this time in your lives. Your engagement is a lovely time to commemorate with pictures of you together. How does an Engagement Session work? The first thing that we will do is work together to select a time and location for your shoot. On the day of the shoot we will meet at our pre-determined location and begin. Generally speaking we will take a walk and stop at intervals to capture images. I will be looking for amazing light, beautiful backgrounds and incredible compositions. While there are 'poses' that can help you out they are better thought of as guidelines for your interaction. After all we want images which demonstrate how comfortable you are together. How do we pick a location for our Engagement Session? If you have a location in mind I would love to hear about it. Many couples know exactly where they would like to shoot, because it is a location which is important to them. Choosing a location which is meaningful to you will add impact to your engagement pictures. If you are not sure where you would like to have the session, however, don't worry. I am more than happy to offer up some suggestions! What should we wear for our Engagement Session? The most important thing is that you need to feel like yourself - you want to reflect who you are in your images! If your a jeans and t- shirt kind of person don't go wearing a cocktail dress if its going to make you uncomfortable. Don't feel that you need to match your future spouse either - coordination is good but try to avoid matching. Look for colors which compliment each other or are in the same family. Consider the location of your shoot also- an open field will lend itself more towards a casual dress or jeans than an evening gown. If you are hiring a hair and make-up artist for your wedding day, before your session would possibly be a good time to arrange a trial. Although it is not a necessity, it can help boost your confidence and can ease your getting- ready process on the day of your wedding. What else should we bring to our session? Consider bringing along a bag which you can use to carry any extra items which you may choose to bring along. If you have a change of shoes, phones, car keys, sunglasses etc placing them into a bag will make transport easier. If you are considering changing up your look throughout the session, but don't want to change your entire outfit you could consider bringing along an additional layer or a change of shoes and jewelry. We are super nervous and we take terrible pictures- will you help us to pose? It may be easier said than done but don't worry about looking 'bad' in front of the camera. Out of all the weddings and engagement photographs I have shot not one couple has looked 'terrible' in front of the camera. It is natural and expected that you will feel somewhat awkward and uncomfortable in front of the camera initially. After all - it isn't every day that your being asked to stand facing your future spouse with his nose against your forehead! But it is my job to help direct you and allow you to relax into your session and 'poses'. Usually we begin with a less intimidating interaction, such as simply walking up and down a path to allow you to settle in before progressing to more technically difficult 'poses'. Remember you can't really do it wrong- so long as you focus on your upcoming marriage and relish in the love you have for one another, this will be reflected in your images. What if the weather looks terrible?
Believe me- I watch the weather like a hawk as an upcoming session approaches! If it looks like rain I will be in contact a few days in advance to discuss our next move. Occasionally this will involve picking a new date, however, there is always the option of waiting until the morning of the session to see what the weather has decided to do, though this isn't generally recommended. Matt & Beth's was a love story was one of the most romantic kind - one which developed slowly over time ultimately resulting in a deep seated caring and reliance on one another. Although they met two years before it wasn't until Bethany's sister dated Matt's brother that he realised Beth was 'a bit of a looker'. Although Matt was sold on her, Beth was a bit reluctant and after dating for only two weeks Beth declared he was 'Just a kid' and they took a break. However, throughout the following 12 months proved himself by being her rock through difficult times causing Beth to reassess her feelings and 5 days before their siblings wedding they decided to have another go at a relationship. They quickly realised that they were meant for each other. 6 Months into their relationship Matt took Beth for a delightful breakfast at Ballina river where he asked her to close her eyes and placed an everlasting rose into her hands. As she opened her eyes Beth caught sight of a silver plaque with the words 'Will you Marry me Bethany?'. Beth's heart beat skipped and she replied 'Yes' quite enthusiastically! We can hardly wait to photograph their wedding in March next year! A gorgeous couple very deserving of one another! Vendors: Ceremony and Reception: Albert River Winery Cake: Creative Cakes by Lisa I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to travel to beautiful Wellington Point, Queensland for the gorgeous vintage themed wedding of Esther and Jonathan. After another rather wet week, which had followed on from an extremely wet week after cyclone Debbie, the day dawned beautiful and sunny. Wedding preparations were in full swing- hair and make-up was underway, Esther and her bridesmaids were enjoying one another's company, deliveries and drop-offs were occurring and the whole house was filled with the delicious aroma of a gourmet bacon and eggs breakfast! Esther and Jonathan had chosen the spectacular Albert River Winery for their ceremony and reception and it certainly didn't disappoint. The chapel looked spectacular, with the traditional stained glass window highlighting the gorgeous couple at the front of the room. Following the ceremony the winery grounds provided ample photography opportunity and the gorgeous golden hour glow of sunset encompassed the newly wed couple as they strolled through the vineyards and chatted to the cows in the paddock. After enjoying delicious canapes on the Bocce lawn, guests were seated at a long table on the verandah, beautifully designed and decorated by Esther and her mum. It was obvious how much time, effort and thought lovingly went into it. The guests enjoyed all that was on offer- food, drinks, speeches and the emotion of the entire event. The venue was beautiful, with spectacular scenery which lingers in the mind for a long time to come. If you have found the one- the love of your life and you are planning your wedding and want beautiful, memorable photography to forever capture this special day, then why not contact In the Moment photography. Vendors: Hair and Make-up: Iluka Hair Design Flowers: Funky Floral Design Bridal Gown: Exquisite gowns by Yvonne Celebrant: Christine Preston Star Wars Mask: Zing Ceremony and Reception: Iluka Bowls Club Tenneal and Peter's wedding day will be one which remains in my memory for a long time to come- not only because they narrowly missed getting very wet from a tropical cyclone, or because it took place during one of the largest flood events in a long time but because they are a wonderful, unique couple who marched on in the face of difficulties to achieve their end goal - marrying the one they love! I met Tenneal the morning of the wedding at Iluka Hair design and despite all the obstacles which had arisen in the days prior, she was cool and calm taking the morning in her stride. Following hair and make-up we traveled to her home where she and her sister spent the morning dressing before travelling to Iluka Bowls Club for the ceremony and reception. Peter gave one of the most unique wedding vows I have heard to date with many star wars references made. One statement I distinctly remember was 'I promise to always clean the hair from the bathroom drain- even though your the only one with hair!' Tenneal and Peter have a love for all things Star Wars and Harry Potter and this was reflected in their wedding theme which included Darth Vadar socks, Star Wars masks, Harry Potter wands, a golden snitch bracelet and even flowers made from the Harry Potter books! This wedding was so much fun to photograph and I feel certain that this amazing couple will have a wonderful life together in the future. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your special day! I asked Tenneal some questions about preparations for their big day. Here are her responses: How did you and Peter Meet? We met through mutual friends. I was going to the Gold Coast boat show with some of my friends and after it we decided to go see a friend of ours which happened to be Peter's girlfriend at the time. As soon as we saw each other we were instantly attracted to each other. Two weeks later I got a message from him and we've been inseparable ever since. How did Peter propose to you? The "first" time was in our lounge room with a burger ring, but he wanted to properly propose when he had a beautiful ring for me, so one night after his soccer match he called me onto the middle of the field and asked me to marry him. What was the theme for your wedding? Well peter loves Star Wars and I'm a massive Harry Potter fan, so we thought we would put them both together and make it a unique day to us. What was the most important thing to you when planning your special day? The most important thing was to make everyone happy and have a good time. That is just us as couple, we love to see people having fun and who are happy. Seeing our families all get along, even though the day didn't go to plan at all. We're just glad we got to marry our best friend at the end of the day. That is the most important thing. What was the most memorable thing from your wedding day? Marrying the man of my life, my rock and my soulmate who will be there no matter what we go through. We're in it together. Also the determination of our family and friends to try and get to the wedding even though everything was flooded and it was near impossible to make it. I will never ever forget their determination and I will forever be grateful. Venue: Hanging Rock Hall, Cawongla. Flowers: The enchanted florist Make- up: Hair: Jacque Benson & Brenda McDonald Cake: Tara Osbourne and Kathy Douglas Abigail and Nick's amazing country themed wedding was a delight to photograph. For almost two weeks before the wedding a low had descended across the Lismore area, leaving the ground very wet and slushie. However, the wedding day dawned with only slight cloud cover which increased the excitement being experienced. A huge thank you to Sally and Scott who traveled down to the groomsmen to capture some fantastic shared moments- apparently its more difficult to roll up sleeves than we thought, who would have imagined? Meanwhile Abigail and her bridesmaids were cool, calm and collected- enjoying every experience of their beautiful day. I have to mention the amazing attention to detail that Abigail's mother and sister put into the wedding. The hall at Hanging Rock, Cawongla, looked amazing and was all stylized and put together by them with help from some other amazing individuals. Overall this was a beautiful wedding and I feel so fortunate to have been a part of it! I asked Abby and Nick some questions about their wedding day and these were their responses: How did you meet? We were at a young peoples camp held in August. They held an ice breaker that was a 'warm and fuzzy' and I got paired up with Nick. At first we didn't hit it off, but it didn't take long before we started spending a lot of time together. How did he propose? He took us up to a lovely look out. It was a beautiful day for a picnic. It was so nice to be surrounded by the countryside and all that our heavenly father had created. We were absorbed in one another's company when Nick asked me to marry him. How more perfect could the day get? so we set about planning to spend the rest of our lives together. What Inspired your wedding theme? Ultimately it was our love for the country and everything associated with that. I'm a real country girl at heart. What was the most important thing to you when you were planning your wedding? The most important thing to me were the vows and promises I made to Nick and to God. However, my dress was also very important to me. I wanted the day be something we would remember, but which would reflect our love for all things country themed. What was the most memorable thing from your day? When I made my entrance and looked down the aisle at the man I was going to marry. His eyes and smile of love and pride said all I needed to know. The promise of today, tomorrow and always. If you have a wedding coming up in the near future and would like us to capture similar images for you, why not send us an enquiry for your wedding date!
Hair and Make-up: Coolum cutting edge
Flowers: Bunched Up Transport: Sunshine coast vintage limos Ceremony: Point Arkwright, Coolum Reception: Coolum beach bowls club Cake: Cakes by Judith Bronson Point Arkwright in Coolum is an idyllic lookout in an idyllic holiday location. It was here, in this beautiful location which holds so much meaning for them both, that Emily and Peter chose to exchange their vows and become man and wife. We began our day at Coolum cutting edge- a busy little hair and make-up business in the heart of Coolum. The girls were hard at work beautifying themselves when I arrived and what an amazing job was done! Following a short walk it was time to relax and get ready before the ceremony commenced. Shortly after the ceremony we took a walk down the headland to the beach below where we had the opportunity to capture some images. It was wonderful to work together with a couple who were so obviously in love with one another. As the sun set on a beautiful ocean outlook, Emily and Peter made their way to an intimate reception at the Coolum bowls club where much laughter and good company was enjoyed. Thankyou for letting us share in such a special day! We wish you all the best for the future. Ceremony: St Mary's Catholic Church Maclean
Reception: Maclean Services Club Flowers: Maclean Flower Box Transport: Mirror Image Weddings Cake: Yummy Yummy Cakes When Joanne messaged and let me know some of the details about their upcoming wedding I was immediately excited. Not only were they getting married at the gorgeous St Mary's church Maclean, but they were hiring Kombi vans for their transport! It was a beautiful Saturday morning when I arrived preparations were well under way. I snuck across to visit Jorn and the groomsmen quickly and immediately fell in love with their superhero socks and cute little Kombi cuff links. Another quick trip back to the ladies saw the final bridal preparations take place before we were met by the Kombi vans from Mirror Image weddings and we set off for the church. After a beautiful ceremony we visited a number of locations for some fun photos. Jo, Jorn and the bridal party were very relaxed and were full of wonderful ideas to try out! Following this was a delightful reception at the Maclean services club where I left everyone dancing the night away! Congratulations Jo and Jorn. Thankyou for allowing me to capture images of your special day! |
